An 8-year-old Tennessee girl is rescued from an ISIS detention camp in Syria

An 8-year-old American girl who grew up under ISIS rule has reportedly been rescued from a Syrian camp and is now awaiting word on whether she will be allowed to return home.

Aminah Mohamad was born on December 8, 2011, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to an American mother and an Iraqi father. Since her parents joined the terrorist organisation in 2014, she has lived under ISIS rule. Aminah was sent to a Kurdish-run detention camp for people linked to the Islamic State after her parents died.

According to Buzzfeed, Aminah was rescued from the facility on July 17. She is now being held in a safe place.
